A bizarre case of fraud has surfaced in Chhattisgarh. A man allegedly exploited the state's Mahtari Vandan Yojanamilyon88, a government initiative that is aimed at providing Rs 1,000 monthly to married women.
The man reportedly opened an account in the name of Bollywood actress Sunny Leone and pocketed the funds meant for the scheme’s beneficiaries.
Launched by the BJP government, the Mathari Vandan Yojna aims to financially assist married women in Chhattisgarh by providing them Rs 1,000 each month.
However, it was recently discovered that one of the accounts receiving these payments was fraudulently registered under the name of Sunny Leone.
The alleged fraudster has been identified as Virendra Joshi. He is now facing legal action.

The controversy has sparked a political debate between the ruling BJP and the Opposition Congress. Congress State President Deepak Baij has claimed that over 50% of Mahtari Vandan Yojana beneficiaries are fraudulent.
BJP leader and Deputy Chief Minister Arun Sao accused the Congress of being upset that women in Chhattisgarh are now receiving monthly assistance, a benefit that was missing during their tenure, as quoted by Hindustan Times.
This incident comes on the heels of another viral case from Bihar, where a student’s examination form surfaced with parent names inspired by Bollywood actors Emraan Hashmi and Sunny Leone, though “Emraan” was misspelled as “Emran Hasmi".
Dated 2017-2020, the form had circulated online with the caption “Bollywood"milyon88, adding to the list of unusual and viral administrative blunders.
